BIOGRAPHY
Duda Penteado is an "Artivist" — visual artist, filmmaker, educator, and cultural visionary—who has lived between the United States and Brazil for more than 25 years. His multidisciplinary practice spans performance, video, installation, murals, sculpture, painting, and other visual forms. Much of his work engages critical social issues: racial injustice, sustainability, cultural identity, globalization, and other geopolitical and social currents of the 21st century. He has exhibited at galleries, cultural institutions, and museums throughout the United States, Brazil, and Europe.
Duda's work resists being reduced to a single movement or country — it is the work of a global thinker. To engage with Duda and his art is to encounter the work of an intellectual: a visual pedagogy of the highest order, one that sets the stage for communities to engage in local and international dialogue on essential human concerns.
